We recommend LTI 1.3 for new integrations. LTI 1.1 covers authentication and deep-linking only: it cannot send learner scores back to your Canvas gradebook. If you need score reporting, use LTI 1.3.
Set up Wonda as an External Tool in Canvas
In Canvas, create a new Course by clicking on “Start a New Course”
Scroll down on the left panel and open Settings, then select the Apps panel and click View App Configuration
From here, create a new App by clicking + App
Select Paste XML, type Wonda as name, then copy the Consumer Key and Secret Key from your Wonda LTI tab. Open the LTI Configuration URL in a third tab and copy/paste the XML into the last field
The Privacy Level of the app should be Public, or at least email only, as LTI will try to connect to an existing Wonda account using the email address
You are done. Any instructor can now create a course in Canvas and use the Wonda app in it.
Add a Wonda Simulation to a Canvas course using Deep Linking
Once the setup above is complete, any instructor can add a Wonda simulation to their course:
Go to your Home in Canvas and add a new Assignment. When picking the Submission Type, select External Tool and choose Wonda from the list
A Selection Menu will appear with all the Wonda content available to your account. Select the simulation you want to integrate
Note: the email address of the Canvas user must match a Wonda account for content selection to work.
In the Tool Configuration, check that Load in a new tab is selected
Click Add Item. You can now add other content and publish your course by ticking the checkbox
Testing your LTI integration
Click Student View in the top right corner. You should be able to see your Wonda simulation inside the Canvas course.
You can also confirm tracking in Wonda: go to Reporting and check the simulation's Session Logs for a session matching your Canvas user.
