Note: looking for the LTI 1.1 integration? Here is the dedicated step by step tutorial (legacy — no score reporting).
Before you start
Blackboard handles LTI 1.3 differently from Moodle and Canvas. Rather than entering Wonda's URLs yourself, you register Wonda using a Client ID that we provide, and then send us back the Deployment ID that Blackboard generates. We confirm once the deployment is added on our side, and the connection is live.
You will need:
Blackboard system administrator access
The Wonda Client ID — contact us to get it
Admin access to your Wonda hub settings
Step 1. Register Wonda in Blackboard (Blackboard admin only)
Log in to Blackboard and go to “System Admin“ (in Blackboard Ultra, select Admin in the left navigation)
Under Integrations, select “LTI Tool Providers“
Select “Register LTI 1.3/Advantage Tool“
Enter the Wonda Client ID and click Submit. Contact us if you don't have it yet
A new page opens with most fields already filled in. Set the Tool Status to Approved
Under User Fields to Send, select Role in Course, Name and Email Address.
Sharing the email address is required: without it, a simulation creator will not be able to find their own simulations when integrating them via LTI.Set Allow Grade Service Access and Allow Membership Service Access to Yes.
Grade service access is what allows Wonda to send scores back to your Blackboard gradebook.Click Submit. The tool now appears in your LTI Tool Providers list
Step 2. Send us the Deployment ID
Go back to the LTI Tool Providers page, click the arrow next to the Wonda registration and choose Manage Deployments
Copy the Deployment ID at the top of the page and send it to our team
Once we confirm the deployment has been added on our side, the connection is established
Step 3. Choose where Wonda appears in Blackboard
Go to LTI Tool Providers, click the arrow next to the Wonda registration and choose Manage Placements
Create a new placement and enter a label and handle. This label is what teachers will see in the course tools list
As placement type, pick “Deep Linking content tool” (this cannot be changed later)
Activate Launch in New Window
As Target Link URI, enter the content selection URL found in your Wonda hub settings under Integrations > LTI
Click Submit
To learn more about the different placement options, see Blackboard's documentation on placements.
Step 4. Add a Wonda Simulation to your course (for teachers)
Log in to Blackboard as a Course Builder
Create a new course, if necessary
In a course, go to “Content”, then “Build Content”. Your placement label should appear in the list of tools. Select it
Pick the Wonda simulation you want to integrate.
Note: in this selection menu you will find all the simulations you have editing access to (all the simulations from Programs you participate in).
Score reporting
With LTI 1.3, when a learner completes a simulation that has an assessment enabled, Wonda sends their indicative score to your Blackboard gradebook along with a link to their full feedback report. See Sending scores back to your LMS for details on how the score is calculated.
Step 5. Testing your LTI integration
To check the integration is working properly:
Make sure you are logged out of Wonda (important)
Open your Blackboard course and connect using your Blackboard credentials
Launch a Wonda simulation
Then, in Wonda, go to Reporting and check the simulation's Session Logs to confirm your session has been tracked with your Blackboard User ID
Complete a simulation with an assessment enabled and confirm the score appears in the Blackboard gradebook
